The Vocational Experience

Action Youth Mentoring believes that by creating opportunities through a motivated setting, individuals will have a chance to learn new skills and work ethics that will help them obtain long-term employment.  We found that by staying focused on developing relationships, we get to know individuals in ways that will benefit them in the workplace.  We focus on what the individual is interested in, what supports will be needed and what is the best possible career match for the individual.  By setting up vocational experiences we are able to witness what an individual may want to do by them actually trying a variety of positions.  Many times in life we find that we may think we want something later to find it is something we do not enjoy, this process helps make that determination more successful.

Vocational Training

With the National Bicycle league as a sanctioning organization for the BMX area of the park, complimented by ROAR sanctioning the Off-Road RC area, AYM and the Brevard Business Leadership Network are in a unique position to collaborate efforts and provide quality services that will help individuals gain skills never imagined.  The following vocational experience sites will be available on the park opens spring 2008:

  • Data Entry- With rider registration, national points, state championship series, etc there are many opportunities for individuals to obtain data entry skills through active registration and operation of the sanctioned BMX as well as Off-Road RC racing through ROAR.
  • Grounds Maintenance
  • Track Maintenance
  • Concession
  • Marketing/event planning
  • Networking
  • Financial operations
  • Retail
  • Bike repair

Most BMX/RC tracks through the nation are nearly all run by volunteers.  Rotary Action Park will be the only action sports park in the nation that was built “for youth and operated “by youth”. This will provide an inclusive setting for all individuals due to the amazing opportunities to interact with the community at “their park”!
